I'll continue in English since I don't have the time to try to write in German. The repair shown in the previous post was done in 2013. Three days ago the same thing happened to me again. A sim card adapter got stuck in the card slot on another 6840. This time I knew better than to try to pull the adapter out. I'm in Africa for the winter and need the router for Voip. I opened the router (five plastic hooks, using tooth picks to keep the already opened clips stay open). I then used a verry small instrument screw driver to press down the sim card reader contact springs through the holes in the steel cover of the sim card holder. I was able to take out the micro sim card out of the adapter and could then then focus on getting the adapter out without destroying the gold plated springs. Fortunately, the repair worked and I can use the router.

The reason that AVM can not repair the router is that the gold plated springs of the card reader are fixed in the mother board (Platine). Once a spring is deformed, it can not be replaced so that's why I added another card holder in 2013.

The bottom line is:if a sim card adapter gets stuck in an AVM router, you must open the router or send it to AVM so that they can open it if there is still warranty. If you pull, you will need to get a new router or make a very difficult repair which would normally cost more than the router. I was lucky and had the repair in 2013 done for free by an engineer at an electronics firm who had the right equipment and saw the project as a challenge.

As Stoephu mentioned, the sim card holders linked to by Bruno54 are not identical to the one used in the 6840. The 6840 that I now fixed is a German 6840 from 2014 and it has exactly the same sim card holder (the router is still open). The six holes are important since they make it possible to take out a stuck adapter without damaging the contact springs.

@stoephu hier hast du die Kontakte (Bilder) . Einfach einen externen Kartenleser anlöten z.B aus einer alten Sat-Box. Brauchst nur die 6 Pins
